Originally established in 1963 as African Freedom Day, Africa Day falls on 25 May each year. Inspired by the rich
tapestry of colours and textures of a continent, Africa
Day on Trafalgar Square is a
free one-day festival celebrating the positive contributions of London’s African communities to life in the capital.
Festival highlights will include:

instruments of a continent with performances from MiriamMakeba,
Pauline Oduro,
African Jazz All Stars and
Young faces of Africa!
Taste of Africa Food Court providing you with an opportunity to sample a vast array of traditional and popular African dishes such as suya, jollof rice, egusi, fried plaintain, moi moi and kelewele.
Celebrating Africa!
a procession and masquerade with a difference! Organised by The African Families Foundation and featuring some of London's many community-based African hometown associations,
women’s organisations and cultural groups.

featuring a range of stalls selling quality arts, crafts, products and much more!
